We recently welcomed a new master, Marie-Laure Hauters! Read on to learn more about her.
Tell us about yourself
With over 15 years of working experience, I am a seasoned professional passionate about strategy, M&A, business development, and business sustainability, and an award-winning entrepreneur.
After starting my career at a strategy consulting firm, I worked at blue chip companies such as Danone and Philips, thanks to which I got the opportunity to work on highly strategic projects across the globe (USA, China, LatAm & EMEA).
Pursuing my strong desire to become an entrepreneur, I then founded and managed two successful businesses: one in the health & wellness sector, Yoganida, and a boutique consulting firm, MLH Consulting, leveraging my expertise in health & nutrition, FMCG, healthcare, tech, fashion, and sports. Today, I offer my services as a freelancer or interim manager to companies from those industries in need of extra support/resources to tackle their strategic challenges (both design & implementation), whether they’re start-ups, large MNCs, or anything in between.
I hold a BSc and MSc in Business Engineering from the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management. Over the last few years, I also completed several executive education courses at the MIT and the University of Cambridge, which enhanced my ability not only to innovate and solve problems creatively but also to help businesses become more people-, planet-, and profit-proof.
Why did you want to join Masters of Scale?
Too often, I meet founders who have great ideas, but completely lack business sense or strategic thinking. Based on the experience I’ve gathered throughout my career, my aim is to set them up for success by defining a clear path forward, based not only on existing business opportunities, but also on their own assets and capabilities.
Why are you passionate about entrepreneurship?
Because, regardless of how cliché it may sound, entrepreneurship is one of the ways to make the world a better place, and I want to be part of that change.
What is your expertise and what are you known for?
Strategy design & execution as a whole (corporate strategy, business strategy, international strategy, portfolio strategy, etc.), business development, overall project management, and M&A.
What was the most defining moment in your career, and what did you learn from it?
Having to shut down my first venture was most definitely one of the toughest calls I ever had to make, but also an incredibly rich learning experience.
Welcome to the team, Marie-Laure! Happy to have you on board.
