“Startups are built by generalists and scaled by specialists”
We recently came across this quote from Andrew Gazdecki and it is spot on.
When you are a startup founder, you are a jack of all trades and wear many hats (strategy, marketing, product, operations, finance, HR, etc.). You switch from one hat to another on an hourly basis. And this is needed because when you are small, you don’t have the resources to hire other people to wear those hats.
But if you want to scale, you can’t keep doing everything yourself. You need to realize when to hire and which hats to give away to specialists to ensure you as founder don’t stand in the way of your own growth.
This may be easier said than done, but we came across a great article from serial entrepreneur Jen Baird with some valuable tips.
And our Masters, who have gone through this themselves, are always available to spar with you on this topic!
