When he was about 22 years old, he moved to Amersfoort and started at KPMG. After a few years, he changed his job to a wholesaler in home decoration. He began there as head of finance and grew to CFO, with responsibilities spanning finance, HRM, and ICT. Following this, he transitioned to a production organization of metal bathroom accessories. There, he orchestrated the outsourcing of production to China, a reorganization, and a buyout of the family. Subsequently, he moved to a large construction company, also as CFO, where he facilitated the buyout of the family owners.

Currently, he is at Betronic, an organization that develops and produces electronics for its customers. He commenced in 2007 as CFO and served as CEO from 2013 until 2020. Since 2021, he has held the role of CCO.

Johan was born and raised in Friesland and has two beautiful Chinese children and a lovely wife. He resides in Soest.
