Tell us about yourself
I am an entrepreneurial innovator, business developer and growth expert with 30+ years of experience in international logistics, eCommerce, post & parcel and last mile delivery. In 2016, I co-founded Smartmile and built it to an international scale-up for sustainable urban delivery. Earlier I held senior corporate positions and established a number of corporate ventures. Holding a MSc in mechanical engineering from Delft Technical University, I speak both technology and business. I have a track record in developing sustainable growth strategies and building value through innovation, technology, people and partnerships.
Why did you want to join Masters of Scale?
I like to put my experience, expertise and network to help other entrepreneurs grow.
Why are you passionate about entrepreneurship?
To me entrepreneurship is all about realizing your dream and vision and being passionate in doing that. It is the driving force behind all major change and innovation.
What was the most defining moment in your career, and what did you learn from it?
There is more than one, my most defining moments are both successes and failures, and they don’t exist without each other. Success is not lasting by itself and I learned to keep my feet on the ground and continue to work on it. Failures taught me about myself, and I have learned that in difficult times perseverance, creativity and cooperation are key to turn things around.
What is your expertise and what are you known for?
My expertise is business development in the broadest sense of the word, and I’m known for being a good listener and a strategic thinker with a focus on growth.
